Transfer now to develop your career with new and exciting opportunities.

Northamptonshire Police is currently hiring police constables and detective constables. We offer a range of professional development opportunities and a comprehensive training package for transferees.

If you’re looking to develop your career while uncovering new challenges, then Northamptonshire is the place to be. This is a great opportunity for experienced officers, with a fresh perspective, new ideas and different skills, to join us.

In Northamptonshire, you’ll find wonderful countryside – and the usual rural crime which it brings – contrasted with vibrant urban towns dealing with metropolitan issues. Geographically, the county is well situated for convenient commuting, with a good road network and direct rail links to London and Birmingham, and within easy reach of many other towns and cities in neighbouring counties.

We regularly seek transferees to join our ranks because we value the unique experience and skills they bring from their lives and careers. As a county force, we believe in growing people’s skills in an environment that allows you to specialise in different areas and have the autonomy to make decisions, lead others and be part of new and innovative ways of working.

We offer an exciting range of career paths and specialisms, with great promotion opportunities, and we are now recruiting both PCs and DCs.

We are looking for applicants who can embody our values and support us in our work to improve public trust and confidence. We want officers who share our passion for delivering the highest standards of service to the public and in delivering a first class response that makes our communities proud of their police force.

We currently have opportunities across a range of investigative roles, including CID, Protecting Vulnerable People, and our dedicated domestic abuse and rape and sexual offences investigation units.  We also have uniform constable vacancies, with promotion and lateral move opportunities to support continual professional development and progression.

Should you take the decision to join us, we will work with you to understand your skill-set and what best meets your needs and the organisations, including negotiating a suitable start date.

We pride ourselves on being family friendly and wellbeing is high on the agenda, offering greater work-life balance. We believe in nurturing an environment that helps our staff develop and grow. We have a strong commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion, striving to employ a workforce that reflects the diverse communities we serve.

Our Chief Officer Team actively engages, listens and promotes collaboration, striving for a force built on intelligence and agility, new ideas and perspectives, and community and support. Don't just take our word for it. See it with your own eyes. Join us now to see how we can help you develop your career in a dynamic force.

QUOTE FROM TRANSFEREE DET SUPT KELLY GLISTER

Detective Superintendent Kelly Glister is Head of Reactive Crime for Northamptonshire Police. She transferred to the Force in September 2024. She said:

“I transferred on promotion from Thames Valley Police, where I had most recently been a chief inspector heading up the protection group within the firearms command portfolio. Before that, I was a career detective, working in various ranks in CID, PVP, local and counter-terrorism policing.

“I felt my potential was not being realised and opportunities were restricted. I had worked hard to build my readiness to become a superintendent and I wanted to challenge myself in a new environment.

“I decided to transfer for a couple of reasons. Northamptonshire is a close neighbour to my hometown and members of my family live here, so I feel an affinity to the county and wanted to help make its communities feel safe.

“If you are looking for new opportunities and are considering a transfer, then take a look at what we have to offer here in Northamptonshire. A fresh perspective and challenge can reignite your passion for policing. Remember the reasons you joined the service in the first place.

“Northamptonshire Police continues to fight crime and protect people from harm, as we strive to achieve our vision of being the safest county in the UK. We are a small force with a big heart, so reach out to us so we can tell you more about it.”
