Charity walk Scott Casswell

As the Armed Forces Lead for Warwickshire Police Force, Scott Casswell is always trying to find ways to not only raise the profile of Veterans and Reservists in his  force but also that of the work local Military charities undertake and  the support they are given.

Scott has participated in various  charity events including non -stop walking  around  Police HQ for 24hrs carrying a 50IB Bergen,  completing 87 miles and then walking 5 miles every day for 31 days in a row carrying a 50Ib Bergen and wearing a Respirator.

More recently departing on June 28 and finishing on June 30 he walked from the most Southern Police station in his force’s county and finished at the most northern station with stops  at various police stations along the way. This was a distance of 96 miles in total and took around 36 hours to complete.   To add to the challenge, he decided to wear a Bergen again, but this time carry 70Ib in weight.

He commenced at midnight on Wednesday 28th with the first leg being 12.5 miles, and it rained throughout this first part leaving him wet through and having to dry out before setting off for the next leg.

As the walk progressed, he started to develop blisters and hot spots from the bergen rubbing but with the help of veterans at each stop he was able to continue throughout the day and following night.

On the following morning he was joined by more Veterans all the way to the finish line in a time of 35hrs.

This was the hardest charity event so far due to the amount of time to complete the walk but also with the weight he was carrying.

The money raised was for a local military charity “Veterans Contact Point” who do some fantastic work supporting Veterans.

Scott is taking a bit of time out before he goes on to his next charity challenge.
