Pc Terry Hobbs with his son Aaron

A kind hearted Essex Police officer has pledged to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes; a cause very dear to his heart after his son was injured while on tour in Afghanistan.

His son Aaron, 20, was involved in an IED blast in September 2010, which claimed the lives of his best friend and his sergeant. Aaron received serious injuries including a fractured spine, pelvis and dislocated hip as well as various serious lacerations and burns. He is now recovering.

Terry is planning a number of fundraising events, including a dinner dance with live
band on Friday, November 11, at the Westcliff Hotel in Southend.
