Merseyside Police to offer employees new CyclePlus incentive from P&MM

Merseyside Police is offering its 7500 employees the opportunity to save substantially on the cost of cycles by giving them the chance to take part in a new CyclePlus scheme, created and implemented by leading employee benefits provider, P&MM in partnership with Merseyside Police.

Employees will be given the chance to acquire the use of a bicycle, plus cycle clothing and other associated safety equipment up to the value of £1,000 without paying tax or National Insurance, via a fixed deduction from their gross salary. The bicycle is paid for in instalments over a twelve-month period and the reductions formulated through this scheme equate to a saving of up to 40 per cent on the overall price of the bicycle for every employee that signs up.

Stan Byrne, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Merseyside Police, commented: "We have a very active workforce that takes pride in fitness, health and well-being, so it was important to introduce a benefit that would appeal to this. P&MM were able to tick all of the right boxes for us and have been both prompt in delivery and professional in approach."

Stan continued: "It's very reassuring to know that our staff take such pride in their health and want to improve fitness levels, not only for their own well-being but also in order to keep up with the physically demanding requirements of the job. This CyclePlus scheme is ideal for helping our employees increase their exercise routine without having to take more time out of their day to do so. Not only that, it encourages a change in lifestyle that will do a great deal for the environment in our local community too."

Richard Davies, head of P&MM Employee Benefits, added: "We are thrilled to be working with Merseyside Police to provide its first ever CyclePlus programme. These types of scheme always receive a positive response from employees in the police service in particular, as it offers them a chance to make real savings on something that they can not only enjoy, but that also contributes to a healthy lifestyle and fitness regime."

"P&MM manages the whole programme and the level of professionalism with which all of our schemes are delivered, including internal marketing to encourage take-up plus continual assistance, means that organisations such as Merseyside Police can really get the most out of it."
