IFSEC - 12-15 May 2008 - NEC Birmingham, UK

With the circulation of smart cards worldwide set to increase from 1.4 billion at present to over 4 billion by 2010*, the relevance of this technology and its growing importance within the security industry is undeniable. In recognition of this, IFSEC 2008 will feature an area dedicated to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and smart card technologies for the first time.

Featuring leading systems integrators, card and chip suppliers, software providers and consultants, the RFID & smart card area of IFSEC will feature an interactive demonstration area showcasing the technology in action across a range of applications including healthcare, retail, government, universities and transport.

James Blue, Director of Fire & Security comments: "Smart cards are set to take centre-stage in the world of security with the security and access markets expected to experience the strongest revenue growth of all vertical sectors. The industry has long been discussing the need for scheme implementers and operators to showcase the interoperability of these technologies and the RFID & smart card area at IFSEC will demonstrate just that.

"Furthermore, we will be looking to forge relationships with key industry bodies to ensure this event serves the needs of both the local and international communities by also working with the key drivers of standards and legislation in order to move the industry forward".

Led by industry pioneers, an interactive seminar theatre will cover the latest topical issues as well as give case studies on the successful implementation of new schemes and how to avoid common pitfalls, share best practice and learn of the latest industry trends.

Taking place from the 12-15 May 2008 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK, IFSEC 2008 will feature over 800 of the world's leading security products, services and solutions providers.
