Leading housing association delivers discounted sale apartments as part of
English Partnerships' London-Wide Initiative

Notting Hill Home Ownership continues to provide affordable housing in Wandsworth as it prepares to launch the Parkside project, a development that includes a striking 23-storey landmark tower and an adjoining 8-storey building.

The development is being delivered by Key London Alliance (KLA), a partnership aimed at helping more of the capital's residents onto the housing ladder, comprising Notting Hill Housing Group, Barratt Homes, Circle Anglia Ltd, and Inspace Homes Ltd.

The new Wandsworth development is the first of a series of projects through which the KLA will produce some 2,200 homes as part of the London-Wide Initiative (LWI). Established by national regeneration agency English Partnerships, the LWI aims to fast-track more high-quality affordable homes for key workers across London, where the gulf between public sector pay and property prices is at its widest.

Designed for KLA by architects Squire & Partners, Parkside is currently being built on redundant brownfield land off Mapleton Crescent, overlooking King George's Park. The two towers will offer 159 studio, one and two bedroom apartments: 47 for occupation on a shared ownership basis; 50 for discounted sale to accredited keyworkers such as teachers, NHS staff and emergency services personnel; and 62 for sale on the open market.

Mark Vaughan, Director of Marketing, Notting Hill Home Ownership, comments on the development, "This is a leading edge development, showcasing innovation in both its architecture and construction methods. The project is hugely exciting for the Wandsworth region and is set to transform not just the skyline but also the availability of affordable housing options for many that would otherwise be priced out of the area. It is equally exciting to be working with English Partnerships in order to realise the London-Wide Initiative's aim of fast-tracking affordable housing to the Londoners that need it most."

Steve Oakes, Area Director at English Partnerships said, "The shortage of affordable quality homes in London is a major issue, with many key workers and first-time buyers struggling to get a foot on to the property ladder. Recognising this, English Partnerships has established the LWI to make properties more affordable for key workers by assisting with the cost of home ownership.

"The Parkside project is great news for Wandsworth. In London's competitive property market we are confident that this development, built to the highest design and environmental standards, will make a significant positive impact in the area."
