Accident reports go electronic

All officers in Hampshire are now using a new electronic system to record and report accidents and near misses, which previously required manual form-filling.

The new fully automated accident management system (AMS), developed jointly by Posturite and Hampshire Police, will save officers' time and paper filing, flag up which accidents need to be reported to the Health & Safety Executive and automatically route them through.

It will also give Hampshire Police's Health & Safety advisor, David Leverett, online access to all the statistics and data he needs, keep safety reps informed and provide reports for line managers.

Leverett has spent the best part of two years developing the new system with Posturite's software and consultancy division, WorkRite, and tailoring it to meet his specific requirements.

He said, "Posturite's system has been created to be as flexible as possible so that all sorts of other organisations - not necessarily just police forces and emergency services - can tweak it to meet their individual needs. That's a big plus factor over the other off-the-shelf systems available in the marketplace."
