For the first time IFSEC will be presenting the IFSEC Conference 2008, a high-level three-day conference programme covering the most cutting-edge issues for the security industry today. IFSEC is the world's largest annual security exhibition, taking place from 12-15 May 2008 at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.

The strategic conference programme will tackle the issues of border, port and transportation security, surveillance and protection, major incident management and response, within niche, focused sessions for key industry sectors.

Delegates will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from the best of the security profession. Over 75 expert speakers will present sessions including:

• Michael Taylor, Detective Chief Superintendent and Senior Investigating Officer, Counter Terrorism Command, Metropolitan Police

Don Randall MBE, Senior Vice President, JP Morgan

Chris Patzelt, General Secretary, Football Safety Officers Association

Geoff Dunmore, Operational Security Manager, London Underground

David Evans, Project Director 2012, British Security Industry Association

Iain Jack, Senior Security Adviser, The International Air Transport Association

Michael Taylor, Detective Chief Superintendent and Senior Investigating Officer of the Counter Terrorism Command will present the keynote address on the first day, focusing on how to deliver an intelligence-led approach to combat the terror threat.

Ian Mansfield, Counter Terrorism Security Adviser at City of London Police will deliver a presentation about Project Griffin, the joint initiative between the Metropolitan Police Service and the City of London Police providing advice and training to managers, security officers and workers from large organisations across London on security and counter terrorism issues. Terry Scallan, Governor of the South African Security Institute, will discuss the security training preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Delegates can choose from nine modules over three days, each one addressing a key theme, supported by case studies and in-depth analysis. Visitors can master a specific element in one focused session or create a unique, personalised schedule of multiple modules with the unique 'pick and mix' agenda.

IFSEC event director, James Blue said: "I am delighted this conference is now a reality and happening in the ideal place - alongside the world's largest security exhibition. We are dedicated to growing the event and enhancing the IFSEC experience for all visitors.

The conference will deal with the issues facing security professionals, engaging them in debate about important matters facing the profession over the coming years and presents yet another reason for people to visit IFSEC in May."
