The British Association for Women in Policing has recognised the achievements of two Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers at the association's annual awards ceremony in Leicester on Monday 13 June.

GMP's Detective Chief Inspector Lynne Vernon, of Bury Division, was placed first in the Leadership award category, while PCSO Tracy Threadgold-O'Sullivan, of the Metropolitan Division, was named winner of the Police Staff Achievement award.

The ceremony recognised the outstanding achievements of police officers and staff from forces across the UK and was held by the British Association for Women in Policing in association with Jane's Police Review.

A total of 93 nominations were submitted for the 10 award categories, and BAWP president, Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Cressida Dick, presented the awards.

Chief Constable Peter Fahy said "This is a fantastic achievement for Lynne and Tracy. The fact that they were selected as winners from among a substantial number of nominations shows the high calibre of work carried out by the people of GMP. I am immensely proud of those achievements, which are providing an outstanding service to the public and delivering real leadership."
