Tuesday, 22 February, 2011

G4S Secure Solutions (UK) ('G4S') is proud to announce that employee Brian Birks has been awarded a Divisional Commander's Commendation by North West Leeds division of West Yorkshire Police.

The commendation will be presented to Brian by Chief Superintendent Whitehouse of West Yorkshire Police at an event held to celebrate his services to the community of North West Leeds whilst working for G4S.

Brian was commended for his work alongside the North West Leeds division of West Yorkshire Police as Headingley Carnegie Stadium's Safety Officer. In this role he undertook a range of responsibilities, encompassing the planning, implementation and event day operation of both domestic and international fixtures. This required a close working relationship with the police operations team to ensure the safest environment possible for both the venue's staff and supporters.

Mark Hamilton, Managing Director, G4S Events commented: "At G4S we seek to operate to the highest industry standards so it is greatly satisfying when an employee is recognised in this manner. We have long enjoyed a strong relationship with the West Yorkshire Police service and look forward to working with them on many more projects in the future.

"Whilst we are always sorry to see talented employees like Brian leave, we can all be proud of what he has achieved here and wish him well in his future career."

Keith Gilert, Chief Superintendent of West Yorkshire Police, said: "It has been a pleasure working with Brian at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, where he developed a deep understanding with our officers and maintained the high standards we expect in securing such a venue. This commendation is testament to the hard work of Brian, his colleagues at G4S and West Yorkshire Police."

The event will be held at Headingley Carnegie Cricket Ground on 2nd March.
