Caught on Camera goes mobile

Thursday, 05 August, 2010

West Yorkshire Police's Caught on Camera site is getting smarter. The CCTV photos, featuring potential suspects or witnesses to crime, are now available on smart phones, and other similar devices, via the West Yorkshire Police Facebook site. It is regularly updated with the Force's Caught on Camera still footage, as well as news, appeals, press releases and Police Staff vacancies.

Since the site launched in 2008, 1488 people have been positively identified. Patrick Brooke, the Force's Website Manager, said: "CCTV is a vital tool for helping to bring people to justice and we are delighted that more and more people can now have access to the Caught on Camera site through their mobile phones."

The site can also be accessed via the West Yorkshire Police website www.westyorkshire.police.uk and find a link to the Caught on Camera section on the front page. Visitors can search for local photo appeals and report possible identifications online or they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where they may even qualify for a reward
