Blackpool and the Fylde police host commendation evening

Tuesday, 15 June, 2010

Police officers, police staff and members of the public were honoured for their achievements, bravery and good work at a special ceremony last night (Monday 14th June).

Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Richard Debicki, hosted the awards evening to recognise those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Chief Superintendent Debicki said: "I was delighted to be able to recognise some of the exemplary work that goes on each and every day. All those who have received an award richly deserve their success. Some staff receiving awards have demonstrated outstanding acts of bravery whilst others have done some exceptional work within communities over a sustained period of time.

"I expect all staff to work hard for the community all of the time - however, these staff have gone the extra mile, and deserve this recognition.

Eight awards were handed out at the event - the Divisional Commander's Commendation, the Quality of Service Award, the Enthusiasm Award, the Leadership Award, the Rhodes Marshall Meritorious Conduct Cup, the Gordon Connelly Cup, the Problem Solving Award and the Team Award.

Chief Superintendent Debicki added: "This is the first time that I have had the pleasure of hosting these awards - I am very fortunate to be able to serve the community in this area with a capable and committed workforce. Crime in Lancashire is as low as it was back in 1973 and that has not happened by accident. It is down to the hard work and determination of staff, such as the people who have been recognised with these awards."
