Boys in blue in charity cycle challenge

Tuesday, 11 May, 2010

Two Blackburn police officers are about to embark on a gruelling 900 mile charity cycle challenge.

PCs Dave Pearson, from Eastern Division's Operations Support Unit and Mark Houlton-Pinder, who lives and works in Preston, will cycle from Lands End to John O' Grouts to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis and Cancer Research.

The officers, who have already raised an amazing £1500, are working to a target of at least £2000 for the charities. They will begin their ten day challenge on Friday 4 June 2010, cycling for a total of 80 hours.

PC Pearson who lives in Chorley said: "To say it's a challenge is an understatement but we are both looking forward to getting started and counting down the miles.

"We are really grateful to Carradice Saddlebags and Ewood Cycles for sponsoring us and to everyone who has supported us so far. Sore legs and aching muscles will be a small price to pay to help raise money for these worthwhile causes."
