Grampian Police Appoint New Assistant Chief

Grampian Police is delighted to announce the appointment of Central Scotland Police Chief Superintendent Derek Penman to the post of Assistant Chief Constable.

Mr Penman's appointment was confirmed yesterday, Thursday, June 4, 2009, following approval from the Grampian Joint Police Board.

Martin Greig, Convenor of the Police Board said: "The Board was very impressed by Mr Penman's leadership skills and talents and I am delighted with the decision to appoint him to this key senior position in the force.

"He will be a definite asset to the Grampian area and it is great to have an officer of his experience and abilities in this important position.

"I look forward to the positive contribution that Mr Penman will make as Assistant Chief Constable."

Mr Penman said: "I am absolutely delighted to be given the privilege of joining the Force Executive team as Assistant Chief Constable.

"I am looking forward very much to working with the Grampian Joint Police Board, colleagues, staff associations and our communities to build on the success achieved by the Force in recent years."

Chief Constable, Colin McKerracher said: "Derek will be a welcome addition to the Force Executive and I wish him every success."
