Graham Berville leaves Police Mutual

Wednesday, 24 September, 2008

After seven years as Chief Executive of Police Mutual, Graham Berville has decided it is time to seek new challenges in the Financial Services Sector.

During his time as Chief Executive, Graham has substantially diversified, developed and grown the business, culminating last year with the acquisition of Roland Smith Insurance Brokers, making the Society the leading provider of financial services to the Police Family.

Excellent customer service has always been a key strength of Police Mutual, recognised over the last three years as being the number one brand in the ABI Customer Impact Scheme.

During his tenure, Graham also made a significant contribution to the Mutual Insurance Sector, as a director of the Association of Friendly Societies and a founding director and latterly Chairman of the Association of Mutual Insurers. He led the mutual sector's response to the Myners Review with the development of the Annotated Combined Code for Mutual Insurers. He was also a member and Chairman of a number of ABI committees. The Society thanks Graham for his contribution and wishes him every success in his future career.

Police Mutual's Chairman, John Giffard CBE QPM DL BA, also thanks Graham for his leadership and involvement over the past seven years. "Graham's legacy is an organisation that is financially strong, has a highly competent team and is well-placed to withstand current challenges facing the financial services industry."

Paul Engers - Police Mutual's Finance and Technical Director - will cover the role.
