Investigating Officer - Prisoner Handling - Woking
As a key member of our investigation team, you will process prisoners from the point of handover by the arresting officer, through interview and initial file preparation and submission. You will gather and prepare vital evidence on offenders in accordance with PACE provisions. This will involve interviewing prisoners in custody, gathering personal data including DNA samples, photographs and fingerprints, and transmitting this information through our Livescan database.
As well as preparing documents to present to the Crown Prosecution Service you'll attend court in person to give evidence when required. You'll also assess the suitability of bail applications and help to maintain high standards in prisoner handling right across the team.
For this role you will need proven experience in investigation matters including the ability to conduct interviews to a high standard. You will have a working knowledge of criminal law and an enquiring mind. A high level of computer and interpersonal skills are essential to the role. A full driving licence and use of a private vehicle is required as this job involves some travel. You should be prepared to work unsocial hours.
