The Organisation
Leicestershire Constabulary prides itself on delivering a ‘second to none' policing service to the people of Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland with the aim of putting the community at the heart of how they police. This high profile organisation is looking for an exemplary communications specialist to lead their Press, Public Relations and New Media Departments to exceed the expectations of the local community.
The Role
As the Head of the Corporate Communications team you will take responsibility for driving all initiatives to proactively promote the work of the Force to people across this culturally vibrant community. Motivating and inspiring a broad team through effective leadership and development of people and individuals will be a key part of this post. This is a role that requires dedication to ensuring the organisation is always on the ‘Front Foot' when it comes to anticipating public reaction. Building on the strength of existing media relations you will manage any potential threats to the organisations reputation through effective internal and external communications.
Working within this unique environment you will provide regular, accurate communication through the appropriate channels whether that be media, press release or key constabulary publications. This is a role that provides protection to people involved in high profile situations, and needs a proven spokesperson that can be relied on to act professionally in any situation.
Community relations, networking and sharing best practice are all key areas of this role, with the aim of developing marketing partnerships across the community. This person will have responsibility for facilitating these efforts and will consistently aim to maximise public relations opportunities.
The Person
As an ambassador for the organisation, providing a high quality and professional service, you will exude confidence in communication and act with integrity in all that is undertaken.
Delivering an ever developing strategy inline with overall objectives in a rapidly changing environment requires an accomplished leader who has had responsibility in a previous position predicting and planning for the unpredictable!
Juggling the unpredictability of incoming issues at the same time as providing consistent positive messages requires a pragmatic approach in addition to developing best practice and seeing change as an exciting prospect.
As stakeholder management is an important aspect of this role, the successful candidate will demonstrate influencing skills as well as strong negotiation and persuasion techniques.
Experience within an agency or working client side would be equally appropriate for this role.
This is a genuine opportunity within a prominent organisation, where you will be directly responsible for enhancing public and internal confidence within this prestigious Force.
