The primary aim of a ‘Sanctuary Scheme’ is to increase the housing options available to victims of domestic violence. The Sanctuary Scheme is a victim centered initiative which aims to make it possible for victims of domestic violence to remain in their homes and feel safe.

It provides professionally installed security measures to allow those experiencing domestic violence to remain in their own accommodation where it is safe for them to do so, where it is their choice and where the perpetrator no longer lives within the accommodation. This joint LGA and Communities and Local Government guidance aims to help local authorities and other key stakeholders set up and run effective schemes designed to help victims of domestic violence.

Initial Accountabilities Specific to the post

• To conduct an Initial Assessment of clients requesting support under the Sanctuary Scheme

• To Co – ordinate the provision of level 1 Sanctuaries

• To facilitate meetings of the Sanctuary Plus team in respect of level 2 and 3 sanctuaries

• To undertake risk assessments in liaison with the contractor and the police in respect of domestic burglary and repeat victimisation

• To seek the permission of the owner of the property to carry out the work under Sanctuary

• To maintain liaison with the client / clients support worker whilst work is ongoing

• To provide monitoring statistics and information as required by the steering group

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

The job requires a same day response – the post holder will therefore be expected to work the 18 hours per week over the 5 day working week. Hours of work will be between 10am and 5.15pm to suit
