Hoping to put their great communication skills to good use, lots of people choose to work in a call centre. But it is not too long before their personality is squeezed out of them as they are forced to follow a script and give only standard responses.
But all that is a million miles away from what you will find here at the Hertfordshire Constabulary Contact Centre. These are the kind of conversations that you are unable to rehearse beforehand. Whether you are dealing with life or death emergencies, taking down essential witness information, recording a crime or fielding the occasional bizarre call, you will need to use all your patience, personality and professionalism.
As a vital link between the community and the Constabulary, this high profile and essential role calls for lots of compassion and tact, as well as a friendly phone manner and the ability to think on your feet. In return you will enjoy plenty of training and support.
Candidates who have attended our Communications Operator assessment centre within the last six months need not reapply.
Successful candidates must be able to attend an assessment centre on 27th- 30th May 2008.
