In this newly created role you’ll provide knowledge and evidence about current illicit drugs and controlled substances, including statements in support of prosecutions and attending court as an Expert Witness. You’ll guide officers and investigators and maintain a liaison with SOCA and, where necessary, chemical companies. You’ll also assist our Organised Crime team in matters such as exhibit handling, telephonic examination management, case investigation and covert proactive activity.
For this role, you must have completed an Initial Crime Investigators Development Programme and be educated to GCSE standard, or equivalent, including English Language. You should have completed (or be willing to complete) a Drugs Expert Witness Course. Significant experience of investigating serious and organised crime, including the use and supply of illegal drugs and of presenting evidence is required. The ability to produce high quality evidential witness statements, which include all relevant and necessary technical points, is essential.
You will also need expert and detailed knowledge of all controlled substances, including related paraphernalia and equipment, relevant legislation and police powers.
