Description: Undertake vetting for all
levels of police officers and staff, within the framework of the Force Vetting Policy.
To manage the administration of detailed enquiries regarding the professional and private life, fianancial affairs, associations and employment history of police officers, staff and potential applicants for posts within BTP.
Conduct vetting for contractors, subcontractors and agency staff engaged by BTP and to advise on the suitability for employment.
Assist in the implementation, review and management the vetting policy. Provide cover for the Force Vetting Officer in his/her absence.
Identify, investigate and assess any matter relating to the applicants suitability for employment which may be a potential threat to security.
Liaise with other forces on vetting procedures and specific cases.
Essential Criteria:
*Report writing skills.
Interpersonal skills for presentations, enquiry and complaint-handling.
*IT literate in MS Word and database intergation.
Knowledge of the legilation, regulation and good practice concerning vetting.
Desirable Criteria:
*Procedure writing skills.
*Interpersonal skills for persuasion, influencing, liaison and advice-giving.
*Web page maintenance skills.
Analytical skills for research, cultural awareness, review and monitoring.
*Knowledge of the legilation, regulation and good practice concerning data protection, Freedom of Information, use the intranets and the internet.
