Switchboard Unit Operator
As a first point of contact for the public contacting the Constabulary by telephone and email the Switchboard Unit is very customer focused, recognising that the quality of that initial contact often dictates the caller¿s overall impression of the police service.
We are looking for people who can help us achieve our objectives, providing an efficient, quality service for both members of the public and members of the Constabulary. You will need to be a good team player with excellent communication skills including an ability to deal with a diverse range of callers in a tactful, calm and courteous manner at all times, even when working under pressure. It is essential that you possess recent experience of working in a busy call-handling environment and have a reasonable level of IT / keyboard skills
In addition to the above requirements you will need to ensure that you can work 8 hour shifts between 07.00 - 02.00, including Bank Holidays and weekends, following a set shift pattern. Flexibility is essential as there may be occasions when you are required to change duties or work at short notice
