PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To supervise and oversee the development, delivery and monitoring, evaluating of all driver training within Northamptonshire Police.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
To supervise and manage the design, organisation, planning and delivery of all Forcewide driver training, managing and making full use of resources available.
To supervise the effective day-to-day working of the Driving Training Unit, allocating work responsibilities and providing guidance and support to team members in their activities.
To manage the development of Force policy in relation to driver training in line with Health and Safety and Best Practice.
To manage the monitoring and evaluation of all training provided, assessing Forcewide needs and ensuring all needs are met at all times.
To ensure the development of team members by full utilisation of the Force Personal Development and Review Programme.
To oversee and report on (both verbal and written) the ability and performance of officers following all driver training courses undertaken, using counselling and coaching techniques as required.
To oversee the keeping and maintaining of up-to-date and accurate records for all driving training undertaken.
To liaise with other personnel such as training, planning, outside agencies, Force health and safety officers and other forces as necessary in order to maximise benefits for all training provided, ensuring that all driver training is relevant and in line with Best Practice and relevant legislation.
To provide information, advice and guidance to all customers both internal and external.
To represent the Force at meetings and forums involving external agencies and other forces.
