To reduce crime, antisocial behaviour, the fear of crime, and to improve the quality of life and environment within the Borough through the provision of a high profile presence, dealing with incidents in a proactive and responsive manner and through liaison with residents, other Council employees, agencies and organisations.
1. To provide a high profile uniformed presence within the Borough. To report and sometimes remove graffiti, rubbish and drug paraphernalia. To report damaged property, breaches in tenancy agreements and environmental problems. To patrol on foot, bicycle or by car in order to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.
2. To work with the police and other agencies to undertake practical initiatives to encourage a reduction in street crime, racial harassment, disorder and anti social behaviour. Deal with incidents in a positive and proactive manner in accordance with training provided.
3. To work with other council sections, Housing Highways, Environmental Services, Accord, Interserve and other external agencies, resident, tenant and community organisations in improving the security, service delivery and public perception of Slough.
4. To actively promote and assist, as necessary, in the implementation of environmental and community safety initiatives (e.g. Keep Slough Green and Tidy, Together Action and Crime Prevention and neighbourhood policing Initiatives).
5. To participate in talks and undertake education and promotion activities.
6. To make links with individuals and groups in the local community by being friendly and approachable; to collect community intelligence; and give advice to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.
7. To improve the quality of life for people who live in Slough by acting as the ‘eyes and ears’ of the community.
