Auto Electrician/Vehicle Technician
Based at Force Headquarters, Enderby
£19,062 - £20,820 (subject to review), 37 hours per week
To be the Force's specialist Auto Electrician and to accurately and quickly diagnose vehicle defects, repair appropriately and undertake other related work as directed. It would be desirable for you to have experience of working on emergency service vehicles and the installation of emergency warning equipment, communication radios and related mobile data equipment.
It is essential that applicants:
*Hold City and Guilds Auto Electrician or equivalent qualification;
*Have served a three year apprenticeship or equivalent training programme or have had appropriate work experience to an equivalent standard;
*Demonstrate substantial experience in Auto Electrician fault diagnosis and resultant repairs including the use of electronic diagnostic equipment. To include working experience on a fleet within a franchised dealership with particular emphasis on Ford, Volvo and Skoda vehicle models;
*Are able and willing to communicate effectively with workshop management and supervision, work colleagues and vehicle users. To be able to interpret and remedy vehicle defect descriptions communicated by vehicle users.
*Demonstrate the ability to complete repair documentation to a required standard;
*Have a full driving licence for cars and light vans with a maximum three penalty points;
*Have a good knowledge of health and safety requirements within a workshop environment.
