Research Officer

Based at Force Headquarters, Enderby, Leicester

£23,847 - £27,675, 37 hours per week


To plan, undertake and assist in research projects that, taking account of the national requirements and the Corporate Plan, seek to enable the Leicestershire Constabulary to achieve Force Vision.

It is essential that applicants:


Are educated to Degree Level in a subject involving research methods OR have considerable experience in the work place of conducting research projects and investigations into business systems, procedures and processes;

Have experience of actively undertaking research projects in a work environment and making reasoned recommendations for changes in working practice detailing the savings/benefits to be gained;

Have proven ability to collect relevant information and data using a variety of techniques;

Have proven ability of interpreting numerical and statistical data making recommendations where appropriate;

Have proven ability in presenting research findings in clear and concise written or oral format to a range of audiences;

Have proven ability of asking probing and challenging questions of others and communicating clearly with people at all levels;

Are self motivated and able to manage workload with the minimum of supervision;

Demonstrate that they treat people with dignity and respect at all times;

Have a practical experience of computer spreadsheets and word processing in a Windows environment. Are able to quickly learn to use new computer software packages;

Demonstrate practical experience of the application of a range of research methods;

Hold a full driving licence*;

Have a proven record of achievement.

It would be considered desirable for candidates to have:


PRINCE II project management qualification;


Experience in process mapping techniques and or process re-engineering;


Experience of work measurement based research (organisation and methods);


Have considerable experience of taking a major role in research projects.
