Police Neighbourhood Support Officer
Based in Sussex, you will be working in a pleasent Police Station assisiting with running the front desk of the Police Station.
To act as the primary point of contact for all visitors to the police station, receiving internal and external telephone calls. Using OIS monitor incidents requiring a managed police response and, with reference to NPT supervision (Sergeant/Inspector), identify police officers/staff to effectively deal with the incident. Where generating an Immediate or Prompt type incident (Grade 1 or 2) ensure that it is passed directly (serial creation) as a priority.
Identify un-actioned or incomplete grade 3 incidents and liaise with NPT supervision for allocation in order that the matter be resolved. Where applicable, contact the caller to resolve the issue without the need for a police response.
In accordance with local arrangements and requirements within the local NPT, and under the direction of your Line Supervisor:
• Take basic witness statements
• Undertake viewing of CCTV tapes to obtain leads in an investigation (time permitting)
• Undertake low level enquiries outside of the police station (where appropriate) Liaise with NPT officers as to the direction of low level enquiries/investigations.
Other Tasks will include
• Responding to and, where possible, immediately resolving general enquiries.
• Taking details of incidents – allegations of crime and occurrences that will generate intelligence (submission of form C22).
• Recording and making initial enquiries into items of found property handed into the Front Office.
• Recording details of lost property and initiating enquiries where leads are evident.
