When a crime is committed, our Scientific Services division are there to collect and process evidence left at the scene of the crime. In our extensive laboratories, recovered or submitted exhibits are subjected to physical and chemical treatments, before results are recorded either by conventional or digital photographical methods.

As part of this vital team, you’ll deliver the highest standard of service to help detect a wide variety of crimes. Working to ISO 9001 accredited quality systems, your duties will include preparing and presenting specialist advice and evidence in court. You’ll also liaise with officers and other Constabulary departments concerning ongoing cases to assess the best and most appropriate actions.
For this specialist role, you’ll require a relevant BTEC/A level qualification and knowledge gained working in a scientific environment. Understanding of COSHH regulations and Health and Safety issues are essential, while previous SLR camera and digital photography experience would be advantageous.

Though predominantly based in the laboratory, you’ll be required to attend crime scenes to recover primary evidence and carry out specialist examinations and chemical treatments. For this a full driving licence is required. This is a great opportunity to work within a forensic field while making a positive and valued contribution to the local community.
