PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide comprehensive administrative support to the Level 2 Crime Investigation Team.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1 To maintain filing and clerical systems in order to assist investigators in their operational role.

2 To provide a word processing and data entry service.

3 To assist in file preparation.

4 To answer queries by telephone or in person.

5 To take notes at meetings and produce transcribed typed copies.

6 To perform general clerical duties including photocopying and filing


NOTE:

The job description reflects the major tasks to be carried out by the post holder and identifies a level of responsibility at which the post holder will be required to work. In the interests of effective working and major tasks may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changing needs and circumstances. Such reviews and other consequential changes will be carried out in consultation with the post holder. The post holder will be also required to carry out such other duties as may be determined from time to time to be within the general scope of the post.


CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

The appointment will be part time and subject to the conditions of service of the Police

Support Staff Council.

The annual leave entitlement is 22 days (pro rata) with an additional 5 days after 5 years continuous service.



ESSENTIAL CRITERIA


1 Ability to demonstrate self-motivation as part of a small team.

2 General clerical/administrative skills.

3 Possess good keyboard skills (RSA II or equivalent) with experience windows

applications (Word and Excel).

4 Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.

5 Exhibit good communication skills.

6 Candidates must be able to demonstrate a level of awareness of equality issues appropriate to this role.


DESIRABLE CRITERIA

1 Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

2 Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.

3 Knowledge of banking systems in relation to cheque or payment card usage.
