PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To carry out research in respect of requests for Security Vetting, Information Compliance (inc. Freedom of Information and Data Protection), Information Sharing & Disclosure and give due regard to Human Rights in order to satisfy the needs of all operational officers, the organisation, members of the public and external organisations.

To review information in compliance with the Record Review, Retention and Disposal process in accordance with legislation and ACPO guidelines.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. To carry out research in response to requests for Security Vetting, Information Compliance (inc. Freedom of Information and Data Protection), Information Sharing & Disclosure and give due regard to Human Rights.

2. To carry out research for the process of review retention and disposal of records of police information in line with the guidance on MoPI, legislation and ACPO guidelines.

3. To carry out research to enable nominal entries on our information systems to be categorised according to the guidance on MoPI, legislation and ACPO guidelines.

4. To act as an internal contact to other departments across the force in collating the necessary files/intelligence.

5. To input all accurate and relevant data onto the database, or to input ‘no trace response’ in accordance with local instructions.

6. To identify duplicate and/or inaccurate records during research and pass to the Information Unit Team Leaders to rectify.

7. To assist the Information Unit Team Leaders by reviewing material for audit purposes as directed.

8. To ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act legislation.

9. Any other duties or tasks as required within the scope of the role.
