Dedicated Decision Maker (DDM)
G4S currently require an ex/retired police officer to work as a Dedicated Decision Maker. The ideal candidate should have excellent knowledge of Policing Laws, Evidence Gathering and experience preparing / evaluating Court Prosecution Files.
Purpose of the Post
- The candidate will be responsible for making decisions on Court Prosecution files. Making informed decisions on whether to prosecute in the courts, or take an alternative course of action where applicable.
- The role will require strong decision making skills and an ability to defend those decisions, both internally and externally, ensuring they stand up to audit by HMIC.
- The role will also be responsible for ensuring that the decisions made by other agencies are assessed and challenged where necessary.
- Internally the role must ensure that case files contain the relevant evidence and case file content prior to submission, and will make recommendations, action plans, and give advice to Officers where further evidence is required.
Responsibilities
- To assess case files submitted to AJU and make a final decision regarding prosecution based on evidence of the case and legal knowledge and procedural processes.
- Evaluate the evidential content of case files based on basic principles for detection and make recommendations to officers on obtaining further evidence providing officers with advice, guidance and direction.
- To liaise with, and update officers and other agencies regarding case progress.
- To respond to requests from Officers for guidance on preparing case files giving advice and direction where necessary.
- To liaise with outside agencies to discuss, defend, negotiate and challenge decisions made, to negotiate and challenge decisions made by partners and Criminal Justice Agencies.
