Surveillance Operative

Full Time, 37 hours per week

An opportunity has arisen for a Civilian Surveillance Operative to work within the Dedicated Covert Surveillance Unit based at Salisbury Police Station.

You will be expected to work within a team, carrying out various covert activities as directed by the Detective Sergeant DCSU. These activities will include foot surveillance, static observation points and the use of surveillance equipment.

You should be able to use Microsoft applications including Word and Excel and be computer literate. The role will demand that you walk for sustained periods as well as climbing ladders and standing for long periods of time.

It is essential that the applicant can work flexibly in terms of hours of work and accommodate duty changes at short notice due to the unpredictable nature of surveillance.

Good communication skills are also essential. Experience of covert surveillance techniques would be an advantage, however training will be given, but it is essential that you have experience in maintaining complete confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issues.

Experience in photography and video work or an interest in these areas would be an advantage. It is also likely that you will be required to give evidence in both Crown and Magistrates Courts.
