Introduction and Brief Summary of Department

The Police Community Support Officers on London South have been a resounding success and have made a significant contribution towards achieving the Area’s targets and objectives. Key to this success has been the structure of the integrated PCSO Teams, each Team is led by a Sergeant supported by PCSO Coordinators. Overseeing these Teams is the Inspector NPT Terminal Stations.

A vacancy has arisen at London Bridge for a Police Constable to fill the role of PCSO Co-ordinator (reporting to the existing PCSO Team Sergeant), to lead Teams of six experienced PCSO’s,

Description of the Role

The role will attract candidates who seek responsibility and value ‘community focused pro-active style’ policing. As a Team you will be responsible and accountable for the dedicated policing of London Bridge mainline station and designated line of routes from that location. You will be expected to plan local operations and initiatives including train and station patrols to address crime hot spots. Often providing the first response to incidents in your neighbourhood, you will experience the full variety of policing challenges.

A key element of success in the role will involve developing and building community relations with the rail industry and promoting local partnership approaches to problem solving.

You will also have the opportunity to work alongside our already successful Neighbourhood policingTeams on London South, and will enjoy the full support of the specialist resources from the Operations Department and core teams.

This Coordinator role is an ideal step for Constables working towards promotion, as it provides a ‘hands on’ introduction to supervisory responsibilities policing across one of the Force’s busiest Areas.


Please note: This role currently attracts a Special Priority Payment, retrospectively for 2007.
