If you are searching for a post that catches your eye and a new challenge that will expand and develop your existing skills, have you considered joining Mobile Support Division as an AFO on one of our Road Policing Units? All applicants must be current AFO’s or have recent firearms experience i.e. within the last 2 years, and also be authorised to drive under response conditions.

The challenges you will face include the investigation of road death, support to Divisions on policing objectives and providing a county wide response to spontaneous firearms operations. Core training will include Advanced Driving, Pursuit Management, Stinger, Firearms Training including less lethal options, Immediate Trauma and Life Support and Road Policing Skills.

Road Policing ARVs provide specialist support to Close Protection Operations, Dynamic Intervention deployments and Tactical Firearms Group deployments as well as the opportunity to become Vehicle Examiners and Prohibition Officers.

The role currently attracts a £2,000 special priority payment (reviewed annually) as well as the opportunity to further specialise in both Road Policing and or Firearms.

At present we have projected vacancies at both Laindon and Stanway Road Policing Units over the next 18 months and therefore if successful you will be placed where a a vacancy arises.
