Applications are invited for vacancies within the Divisional Crime Management Unit at Melksham. There are currently two permanent positions and one temporary contract for maternity cover, initially for 6 months. Successful applicants will be required to work a shift pattern that will include working between the hours of 8am to 10pm and also weekend working between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
Empowered with police powers, the post holder will work alongside police officers supporting front line investigations and undertaking all types of enquiries/investigations from the initial telephone/face to face enquiry through to seizure of evidence and the interviewing of witnesses and recording of written statements. This rewarding and varied role will provide you with the satisfaction of contributing to the highest level within the community.
To be successful in this role, you must be an effective communicator in both written and verbal forms, have the ability to work on your own initiative, to work with minimum supervision and organise and plan your own work time. Investigative experience and the ability to interview would also be advantageous. You will need to be calm and have a sympathetic nature in order to handle conflict and deal directly with the public with the ability to prioritise a large number of tasks and competing demands.
