Records Stores Officer
Location: BICESTER
Thames Valley Police serves one of the UK’s largest and most culturally diverse areas. Right now we’re looking for a responsible individual to help manage our archive of records and evidence.
You’ll ensure the effective registration, search and retrieval of material. Using a 6.5 tonne tail lift vehicle, you will collect items from police stations – carrying out accurate placement and recovery in our stores. This role involves working in a warehouse environment (including heights of up to four metres) using counterbalances and forklifts. Other responsibilities will include carrying out routine inspections of vehicles and equipment, as well as maintaining security, fire and Health & Safety procedures.
Excellent communication skills, as well as GCSE Maths and English (grade C or equivalent), are essential. Together with high standards of accuracy and attention to detail, you must be competent with stock databases and Excel spreadsheets. Recent experience in stores or archive operations is a must, and ideally you should have current certification for driving counterbalance and reach forklifts. If you have Group C1 on your licence, so much the better – although training will be given.
The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced security vetting. Previous applicants need not apply.
For an application pack please email sharedservices@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk or call 01865 856383.
The closing date for enquiries and completed application forms is 12 noon Friday 16 November 2007.
We offer generous annual leave, optional contributory pension scheme, excellent welfare and support services, training and development opportunities.
We are committed to equality of opportunity in service provision and employment and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
The Thames Valley Police Authority operates a no smoking policy on all of its premises.
The applicant must have currrent and valid permission to reside and work in the UK.
