When the police are doing their job out on the streets, the right back-up is essential. That’s where our Communications Operators use their impressive ability to remain calm and make level-headed decisions under pressure. They co-ordinate appropriate responses, keeping in constant contact with officers on the beat. It’s a tough job, requiring a very unique type of person who can handle several high-pressure tasks at once, but one which is also immensely satisfying.

Join us as a Trainee Communications Operator, and we’ll teach you how to use your abilities to respond to emergency situations in the best possible way. You’ll make decisions based on your assessment of what’s going on, providing the right support to our officers as they tackle crime. This could include events from day-to-day policing to command and control duties covering music festivals and football matches, dealing with response teams including firearms, dog handlers and helicopters.

This is a role full of challenges. It’s also the ideal way for you to make a significant contribution to your community in an organisation with a diverse workforce. We need you to back us up.
