Road Safety Unit Manager

Based at the Meridian Business Park, Leicester

£30,723 - £33,396, 37 hours per week


To manage the effective performance of the Road Safety Unit on behalf of the Force and Scheme Partnership Steering Group to ensure the delivery of Scheme aims and objectives.

It is essential that applicants:


Have a Diploma in Management Studies or similar recognised management qualification;

Are educated to ECDL Advanced Level or be able to demonstrate ability to the above level by work experience;

Demonstrate by way of example:

Working at second line supervision with responsibility for delivering key performance indications/managerial level;

Experience of Project Management and performance management to include the preparation and presentation of Business Cases to Senior Management, to implement new practices, procedures and change management;

Experience of preparing detailed reports where it has been necessary to evaluate information upon which to make reasoned and justifiable decisions;

Demonstrate the ability to manage, motivate and develop staff in line with performance standards. Demonstrate the ability to manage and work effectively as part of a team in order to optimise performance and service provision;

Demonstrate effective judgement, decision making and problem solving skills and the ability to generate and evaluate ideas using analytical skills;

Demonstrate experience of managing budgets;

Demonstrate highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate confidently and effectively at all levels, influencing others positively, whilst maintaining good working relationships with a diverse range of people;

Demonstrate experience of using and taking responsibility for decisions of a complex nature;

Effectively manage and prioritise a varied workload for yourself and staff whilst working to tight deadlines;

Demonstrate a level of awareness of diversity issues appropriate to this role;

Demonstrate an understanding of health and safety legislation;

Demonstrate ability to travel for business purposes.
