Thames Valley Police Dog Section has a nationwide reputation in the training and development of dogs and their handlers and a vacancy has arisen for a Dog Training Supervisor to join the department based at the Force Training Centre, Sulhamstead (near Reading)
You will manage the Dog Training Department and supervise Police Officers and Staff to ensure effective and efficient support to other departments in line with the departments and Forces aims and objectives.
Your key responsibilities will be to monitor and maintain operational effectiveness, analyse and appraise the departments performance including maintaining records and reports, interpret and forecast the training needs to effectively plan and programme training and development activities. You will also be responsible for retaining the NPIA accreditation to ensure the Force is in line with national standards and acquisition of new/replacement dogs.
With a good standard of education and excellent communication skills you will have proven supervisory experience that demonstrates your ability to encourage others to learn and develop. In addition you will have recent and proven experience of working as a general purpose dog trainer. Completion of a general purpose instructors course and an explosive search dog instructor course would be highly advantageous but not essential.
