Salary range £15,327 p.a. rising by annual increments to £18,306/£18,969 (based on 37 hours per week). Plus weekend working and shift allowance.
Flexible hours of working covering Monday to Sunday

We are seeking a number of motivated individuals to work in Local Policing Teams as Community Support Officers based throughout South Worcestershire.
In this highly responsible post you will play a key role in improving community safety by maintaining a visible, uniformed presence to enhance confidence and provide reassurance to local people. Working within the community you will assist in deterring incidents that impact on quality of life, such as anti-social behaviour and environmental matters. As your local knowledge develops you will become a point of contact for communities and their representative groups, and you will work with them to resolve identified problems. You may be given limited powers to assist you to deal with anti-social behaviour and other local issues. You will act with integrity, impartiality and professionalism, taking pride in your work and presenting a positive image of West Mercia Constabulary at all times.
You must be self-motivated with good written and oral communication skills, and have experience of dealing with the public, including situations involving confrontation or conflict. You will be expected to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, building strong working relationships with people from all levels of the community. Local knowledge and an interest in environmental/community safety issues would be advantageous. You will need to be able to undertake shift work with some flexible hours. Full training and uniform will be provided.

Candidates successful at the shortlist stage will be invited to attend an initial recruitment test on Wednesday, 2nd April 2008 at 6.00pm at Worcester Police Station.
Interviews will be held on Monday 14th, Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th April 2008.
Successful candidates will be offered training places in either June 2008 or September 2008.
