The Wiltshire Constabulary has invested considerably over the last twelve months in the Investigation of Major Crime together with Serious and Organised Crime.
The Major Investigation Team was created at the end of 2006. Providing the Organisation with a dedicated and professional Capacity to tackle all Homicide and related death, the Team has to date dealt with 16 murders and suspicious deaths. The second phase of the Force response to major Crime is now taking shape. A Serious and Organised Crime Investigation Team (SOCIT) will now be recruited over the next few months to provide a cutting edge in our capability to combat complex criminality within our communities. In the first phase, vacancies will exist for Police Staff Investigators both within the MIT and SOCIT, followed by Detectives in the coming months.
The SOCIT is planned to be based at Gablecross and will be a sister Team to the MIT based at Marlborough. Both Teams are part of Operations Crime. Departmental Head will be D/C/I Hamlin. Recruitment is now open for several Police Staff Investigator positions within both the MIT and SOCIT.
